Trump says Iran could be struck again “as soon as tomorrow,” but a deal is also possible: geopolitical uncertainty heats up again as BTC holds the $80,000 mark

- On Saturday U.S. time, after voting early in Florida, Trump told reporters that the U.S. was considering taking action against Iran: “We’re thinking about doing it, maybe tomorrow.” He declined to say whether a decision had been made, however, and left another option on the table—a “great big deal.” The question, he said, is whether Iran would honor the agreement.
- The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday that Trump had been briefed on Pentagon strike plans. Options include nuclear facilities, infrastructure, and even islands controlled by Iran. U.S. warships are on standby in the Middle East, with two carrier strike groups in the region and a third on its way from the Pacific. On Saturday, the U.S. State Department also updated travel advisories for more than a dozen Gulf and Middle Eastern countries.
- Market backdrop: Brent crude closed around $116–$117 on Friday. BTC closed at about $80,782 on October 24, holding above the $80,000 mark. But some analysts view a weekly close below $83,000 as a bearish signal. The Fed’s policy meeting is scheduled for October 27–28 next week.
- Possible impact: Weekend geopolitical news, combined with elevated oil prices, could stoke risk aversion and weigh on risk assets when markets open on Monday. But with the “deal option” still on the table, any reversal in the news could also amplify volatility in both directions in the short term.

My take: I’m short-term bearish on BTC. Expectations of geopolitical escalation, combined with high oil prices, could keep risk aversion weighing on risk assets, and BTC is testing the $80,000 mark.
