What exactly is the EVM, and what does “EVM-compatible” mean?
Ethereum contracts are generally written in Solidity or Vyper, compiled into bytecode, and deployed on-chain, where the EVM executes the opcodes one by one.
The EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) is the virtual machine that executes Ethereum smart contracts. Every node executes the same contract code according to the same rules.
When managing positions, the most important thing to keep in mind is this: before interacting with a contract, check the block explorer to see whether its source code has been verified. Be extra cautious with contracts whose source code has not been made public.
