📊 +$1.05 billion in two days, then −$773 million over the next two days. The week for US Bitcoin ETFs looks like a roller coaster… and yet it ends in the green.

📌 The facts (US spot Bitcoin ETFs, week of Oct. 19–23, 2026, Farside data)
• Monday 19: +$526.7M · Wednesday 21: +$524.8M
• Thursday 22: −$635.6M, the biggest single-day outflow since late June
• Friday 23: −$137.9M (BlackRock’s IBIT −$110.3M, Fidelity’s FBTC −$31.8M)
• Weekly total: +$301.2M. October total: −$313.5M after 17 trading sessions

🧠 How does it work?
An ETF is a fund traded on the stock exchange that holds actual $BTC . When investors buy shares, new shares are created and the fund generally buys bitcoin. When they sell, shares are destroyed and bitcoin may leave the fund. So heavy outflows can add selling pressure to the market.

👤 Imagine Ousmane (a fictional character), a tailor in Ouagadougou who keeps some savings in crypto. He sees “−$635M” in a big headline on Thursday and panics. But over the whole week, more money flowed in than flowed out. The day’s headline doesn’t tell the whole story.

⚖️ A few caveats
• A single day tells you almost nothing: the trend over several weeks is what matters
• Some funds report late (VanEck HODL hadn’t reported Friday yet), and figures can be revised
• Flows describe the past, not tomorrow’s price
• The Fed meeting on Oct. 28 could move things in either direction
