What exactly makes a smart contract “smart”?
The concept of a “smart contract” was first proposed by cryptographer Nick Szabo in the 1990s. Most contracts on Ethereum are written in Solidity, compiled into bytecode, and then deployed on-chain, where they run in the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
Code audits can uncover many vulnerabilities, but passing an audit does not mean there are no vulnerabilities, nor does it mean the project team is trustworthy.
Calling a contract on Ethereum requires $ETH to pay for Gas. Current: 2386.31.
