#İRYS Let’s talk about this altcoin. I saw lots of people on the feed getting liquidated. It was up 500% in a day, and 220% on the 15-minute chart. My personal trading system doesn’t let me take large positions in altcoins. I only open a small starter position in advance when the price is low, and hold it for 3–4 months. If there’s no trend or narrative, I cut my losses and exit. I’ve always believed altcoins are a catalyst for wealth, not an all-or-nothing gamble. With an altcoin like this, I’ll only “short high and hold medium-term at lows” if I haven’t already opened a position. When I trade altcoins, I’m not counting on making money, but I try to avoid shorting whenever possible. If you go long, your losses have a limit; if you short, your losses have no ceiling. Even with plenty of margin, you can’t be sure you won’t run into something like RAVE or LAB. People who short altcoins often have this poor-person mindset: “It’s an altcoin, so it’ll go to zero.” That statement isn’t wrong; the mistake is thinking you can hold out until it actually does.
In short: I’d rather go long—make small gains and take big losses. (Remember, this is when the price is low. If it’s already had two waves of upward movement, you’d better stay away.)
