Ethereum ETFs See Nearly $1.2 Billion in Outflows in October

Data from Decrypt shows that U.S. spot ETH ETFs saw net outflows of about $110.6 million on Thursday, bringing the month-to-date total to around $1.18 billion. SOL ETFs saw $8.9 million in outflows that day, with about $68 million in outflows for October so far and net inflows on only two days all month. After BTC ETFs saw $635.6 million in outflows on the same day, they also turned to net outflows of about $176 million for October. ETH is currently trading at around $2,400, down about 11.4% over the past 30 days.

[View] Redemptions from institutional ETH products are markedly stronger than those from BTC products. Alongside staking yields drawing funds away, AI stock sell-offs, and rising oil prices fueling expectations of rate hikes, ETFs have become a pressure-release valve. Yet prices have remained relatively stable, suggesting some spot selling pressure has already been absorbed as the market awaits guidance from the FOMC meeting on October 27–28.

[Opportunity/Risk] Watch whether outflows from ETH ETFs ease before or after the rate decision. Technically, support is around $2,370, with resistance above $2,500. The continued weakness in SOL ETFs diverges from fundamentals following the mainnet upgrade, so beware of another liquidity drain.

Do you think the nearly $1.2 billion in ETH outflows in October is driven more by interest-rate expectations or by structural outflows relative to BTC?
