【Down 89% and ready to buy the dip? Let’s correct one misconception first】

The mistake retail investors make most often is thinking, “The farther it is from its peak, the lower the risk.” DOGE is currently at 0.0794, down about 89% from its all-time high near 0.74. That sounds like a floor. But from its 2021 peak to around 0.05 in 2022, it fell more than 93%; after that, it climbed from around 0.05 to around 0.16—more than doubling. Extreme lows aren’t necessarily bottoms; after extreme fear, prices can still retest the lows.

The FNG has fallen to 50, below the weekly average of 57, but it’s still some way from genuine extreme fear. With no change over 24 hours and a 2.6% decline over 7 days, this looks more like compression ahead of a directional move. Trading volume is active, but the price hasn’t continued to slide. That could mean buyers are stepping in—or it could simply be a change of hands. You can’t automatically call it “whale accumulation.” Sustained accumulation and coins settling on-chain would count as evidence; for now, it’s at most a suspected absorption of selling pressure.

Whether 0.0765 holds and whether DOGE can reclaim 0.082171 will determine whether sentiment stabilizes or continues to deteriorate. To buy the dip, you should at least wait for panic to run its course, volatility to contract, and buying support to persist. The narrative and the ecosystem’s fundamentals should also not be worsening. Otherwise, a coin that’s down 89% can still fall further.

At the end of the day, DOGE’s thesis isn’t “memes deserve a premium”; it’s whether payments, transfers, and community attention can translate into real-world use. People who make payments with Dogecoin or depend on its liquidity may benefit; retail investors waiting at elevated prices for usage to grow will have the hardest time. Without usage, there’s only hype—and cheap doesn’t mean valuable.

Am I tempted to jump in? Definitely a little. I can talk a good game, but when I get back to it, I’m still tempted. When extreme fear really hits, will you dare to buy the dip, or will you be more afraid of the next leg down?
