PancakeSwap plan faces 98% rejection
📋 Summary
PancakeSwap’s “The Flip” proposal had accumulated about 98.2% opposition this Friday (23), one day before voting ends. The plan would increase the share of fees allocated to liquidity providers to 88%, reduce daily CAKE emissions by 69%, and change a major part of the token-burning mechanism.
PancakeSwap’s most ambitious proposal to overhaul its fee economics is heading for a significant defeat. This Friday (23), approximately 1.23 million votes — about 98.2% of the total voting weight — opposed “The Flip,” while just over 22,000 supported the plan. Voting ends on October 24, and the result could still change before the polls close.
The project, introduced by the DEX’s core team, known as The Kitchen, aims to replace some of the incentives paid through CAKE emissions with revenue generated by trading activity itself. In practice, liquidity providers on the v3 and Infinity versions would receive 88% of swap fees, up from the current 66% to 68% in most pools.
What would change for CAKE and liquidity providers
According to PancakeSwap’s official proposal, daily emissions would fall from 22,500 to 7,000 CAKE, a reduction of approximately 69%. That means 15,500 fewer tokens per day, or nearly 5.7 million per year at the final stage.
The cut would be implemented in two stages. First, the change would roll out network by network, bringing emissions down to 11,000 CAKE per day. The second phase would reduce the amount to 7,000 tokens once CAKE reached the 20% supply reduction target set out in Tokenomics 3.0. The remaining 7,000 CAKE would be allocated to the Pantry, a fund focused on ecosystem growth.
At the same time, the protocol’s share of fees on v3 and Infinity would fall to 12%.
