Let’s talk about the MACD golden cross on the $BIRB daily chart. First, let’s be clear about its two drawbacks:
First, it lags. MACD is derived from moving averages, so by the time a golden cross appears, the price has often already bounced quite a bit from its low (up +36.17% in 24h).
Second, it struggles in choppy markets. In a range, golden and death crosses can keep appearing back and forth, creating a lot of noise.
Before this cross, the opposite histogram bars persisted for 25 daily candles, so the trend leg had some length to it—it’s a bit cleaner than a cross in choppy conditions. And since it’s below the zero line, I’d treat it as a rebound for now.
