Iran says activity by “illegal vessels” transiting the Strait of Hormuz has “completely stopped” following its recent attacks on vessels. According to Sina Finance, citing Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency, an official close to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the vessels’ navigation support systems had been damaged. The report said three oil tankers were attacked on Thursday and another tanker was “destroyed” on Thursday night. The official said that if oil smuggling resumes, stricter measures will be taken against the vessels and their supporting technical systems. The official also said that if the United States uses military air intervention to support oil smuggling, it will face a direct and decisive response.
