I was scrolling through BNB’s old chart and was shocked… so I thought I had to tell you about it.
We all know BNB is now priced above 700$ and is a heavyweight coin with high liquidity, but nobody remembers how it started.
This coin launched in an ICO in July 2017 at just 0.15$ .
$0.15… less than the price of a piece of gum.
Back then, it was just an idea: get a discount on trading fees on a brand-new exchange called Binance. Nobody was sure if it would last.
Here’s what happened next:
2017: It rose from 0.10$ to $8
2019: It became a full-fledged network and was renamed BNB Chain
2021: It reached $690
2025: It hit a new high of 1370$
Let’s do the math together. Say some crazy person put in 100$ on day one:
100$ divided by 0.15$ = 666 coins
Those 666 coins would be worth around $493,000 today at a price of 740$ .
At the peak, they would have been worth $913,000.
From 100$ to half a million.
I’m not writing this post to say, “I wish we’d bought in”—we all say that.
I’m writing it to remind myself that a coin that survives for 8 years and has billions in liquidity doesn’t survive by accident.
It survives because there’s a growing platform behind it, real-world use, and regular burns.
The question I asked myself after doing the math was:
Is there still a coin today that costs pennies and that we might look back on in 5 years with the same regret? Or are those days over?
