U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows of about $635.6 million on October 22, the largest single-day redemption since late June. They had seen combined inflows of about $1.07 billion over the previous three days. IBIT had about $254.1 million withdrawn in a single day, and FBTC about $217.5 million—together accounting for more than half of the total. CoinGecko put spot BTC at about $81,717 (snapshot at around 14:08 Beijing time).

This looks more like synchronized selling after a price pullback than institutions turning bearish in advance. There were still large net purchases the day before, then net selling the next. The counterargument is that flows over the four days from October 19 to 22 were still net positive by about $440 million, and a single day's figures don't prove the trend has reversed.

If outflows return close to zero within five trading days, or ETFs turn positive and the price holds above $82,000, treat this move as profit-taking; otherwise, reduce exposure first in response to risk appetite.
