BNB Chain’s next hard fork, Jenner, is set: the BSC testnet launches on October 28, with the mainnet date to be announced separately.
The biggest highlight is Payment Lane (BEP-703): 5% of each block’s gas is reserved by default for payment transactions, and governance can raise this to as much as 10%. Even when the network is congested, ordinary $BNB transfers get a dedicated lane.
Two other updates: the CAS20 compliant asset standard (BEP-702) lets stablecoins and RWAs have controls such as allowlists, blocklists, and freezes at the protocol level; BEP-706 lets contracts read block timestamps with millisecond precision.
Note the timing difference: the official blog says 10/28, while the v1.8.1 client specifies 10/29 02:30 UTC (10:30 Beijing time), so node operators need to upgrade beforehand. $BNB is currently around $738, down 0.2% over 24 hours.
