Would you still do something that brings huge gains but might be considered dishonorable? I didn’t expect this interview to have a second half. Jin Ming’s questions were pretty sharp, and Brother Sun responded again to the romantic entanglement with Jing Tian 🍉🙈
1. Jin Ming: Have you modeled your approach to communications and personal branding on anyone? Where did your overall playbook for life come from?
Sun Yuchen: My overall playbook for life is a hybrid of three people’s: Buffett, Musk, and Trump. From Buffett, I learned risk management and the basic principles of investing. Musk added the high-tech, high-growth, and storytelling side. For communications and branding, I learned more from Trump. I watched The Apprentice to learn English back in elementary school. The three of them can’t stand one another, but as someone who came later, I’ve managed to absorb the best of all three.
2. Jin Ming: Why make something as private as your relationship public?
Sun Yuchen: A lawsuit has already been filed, and the court proceedings will be public, so people were going to ask anyway. I chose to explain things from my perspective before speaking in court.
3. Jin Ming: In relationships, do your business-style ROI and risk-management logic still hold up?
Sun Yuchen: When it comes to relationships, I’m a beginner, first and foremost. I don’t have many firm conclusions—that’s also what I wanted to express in that article. As everyone knows, Claude helped me make that decision. These days, Claude is involved in most of my major decisions. People online say I’m blaming AI, but the one that got away really can have a powerful effect on men. In a way, this is about personal growth and moving on from what I used to believe.
4. Jin Ming: Would you still do something that brings huge gains but might be considered dishonorable?
Sun Yuchen: The way I think about things has little to do with gains or whether something is respectable. The key question is whether Claude and I think it’s the right thing to do. If we think it is, we do it, and accept whatever consequences follow, good or bad. It’s the same with investing—from Bitcoin at one dollar to one hundred thousand, and with Nvidia and Tesla. A lot happened along the way, but at the time, I believed investing in them was the right call. #孙哥
