Grayscale has launched a “crypto-for-shares” option: 10 products allow in-kind subscriptions, with minimums of roughly $80,000 to $360,000.

Announced on October 21, the option lets eligible investors use authorized participants to exchange BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, and other crypto directly for shares in the corresponding funds, without first selling for cash. It covers 10 products, including the Bitcoin Mini Trust, Ethereum Staking Mini ETF, and Solana Staking ETF. Based on figures as of October 20, minimums range from about $80,300 (GSOL) to $364,800 (BTC Mini). For those worried about the risks of self-custody, this offers a route to institutional custody—but the minimums make it clear this isn’t aimed at retail investors.

Outlook: A bullish sign for institutionalized holding strategies, not a signal to chase prices at current levels.

Would you say the roughly $360,000 minimum for the BTC Mini Trust is too expensive?
