Section Three · The Tide Has Three Phases

The tide has three phases: rising, falling, and still. As the tide rises, all things float upward, the lightest moving first; as it falls, all things sink, the heaviest appearing last; when the tide is still, the water’s surface is a mirror, and truth and falsehood are laid bare. Those who do not understand the three phases take the rising tide for the norm, the falling tide for disaster, and the still tide for death. Those who understand them ride the momentum as the tide rises, gather strength as it falls, and observe the currents when it is still.$SNDKB
