The people who were shouting “the bull is back” yesterday have probably been slapped awake by the market today.
BTC has fallen back to around 81,300 bucks, while ETH has it even worse, dropping straight below 2,400 bucks. Long positions accounted for 92% of today’s liquidations.
But it’s very important to understand the nature of today’s sell-off: U.S. tech stocks and AI stocks fell hard (Micron and SK Hynix plunged 6%), but Treasury yields actually declined (the 10Y dropped to 4.95%). That shows today’s sell-off had nothing to do with inflation or rate-hike fears. It was the U.S. AI sector being forcibly deleveraged and its bubble getting squeezed.
The crypto market took a hit in sync with U.S. tech stocks. The CB premium is still negative, and risk aversion among U.S. trading-session investors is strong.
But in terms of timing, BTC’s 1-hour indicators have already fallen into oversold territory, and tomorrow there’s also the pull of the $82k options max pain level.
Don’t get carried away and chase shorts at these lows—you could easily get slapped in the face by a rebound.
If you want to short, wait for a bounce to resistance before making a move. For now, scale back your positions and protect your capital first. Did anyone else get wicked out of their longs today?
