Ridiculous, right? $XRP —after one upgrade, 29 nodes had been voting for 13 and a half consecutive days, then one server went offline for 2 hours without a peep, the clock reset completely, and it was back to square one on November 4.

Here are the rules: out of 35 trusted nodes, 29 must vote yes in every check every 15 minutes for 14 consecutive days. Miss just one, and the clock resets. On Wednesday at 12:54 UTC, support dropped to 26. It climbed back to 29 two hours later, but it was too late—the activation date jumped from today at 9:34 UTC straight to November 4 at 14:46 UTC. This patch closes a loophole that let someone mint new coins using an account with burned authorization, and also fixes the vault lending ledger.

Support is now up to 31, giving it a 2-vote buffer—much more comfortable than the first round.

Pick a side in the comments: is this rigorous governance, or is a 2-hour outage wiping out 14 days of work just downright inhumane design?
