Utexo has opened early access to Utexo Mint for professional operators preparing to support USDT on Bitcoin, with the stablecoin scheduled to become publicly available through RGB on November 28. According to ChainCatcher, the platform is aimed at exchanges, wallets, market makers, OTC desks and trading firms.
Utexo Mint lets verified operators test USDT minting, confidential transfers and redemptions in a sandbox before launch. Utexo also plans to provide tools for managing USDT liquidity across supported networks and exchanging fiat currency for USDT. Utexo Mint is not owned or operated by Tether; USDT on Bitcoin is backed by USDT through Tether’s USDT0 protocol.
USDT first launched on Bitcoin in 2014. Utexo says its return will bring stablecoin liquidity to the ecosystem and support use cases including trading and BTC-collateralized lending. The company says RGB-based USDT is designed for privacy and avoids address reuse. It also says it will monitor incoming USDT, check AML scores and track risks on RGB, working with Crystal Intelligence on AML.
The rollout will have two stages. On November 28, USDT will become publicly accessible on Bitcoin through partner wallets and exchanges. In the second stage, planned for the first quarter of 2027, Utexo aims to extend USDT to the Lightning Network for payments.
