Ripple Prime launches RWA perpetual swaps
News on October 19: Ripple Prime, Ripple’s institutional brokerage business, has launched perpetual swaps on real-world assets (RWA), offering institutional clients around-the-clock trading across more than 100 reference markets, including individual stocks, stock indices, ETFs, metals, energy and foreign exchange.
The product is priced with reference to perpetual contracts listed by Trade.xyz on the decentralized derivatives platform Hyperliquid. Ripple Prime acts as the counterparty to trades, with no transfer of ownership of the underlying assets or physical delivery.
Michael Higgins, CEO of Ripple Prime International, said the product is designed to bridge traditional financial markets and digital asset infrastructure. Clients can manage relevant positions alongside other assets on the platform using cross margin, and eligible clients can also use RLUSD as collateral.
Market maker Virtu is among the product’s early users. The service is currently offered under a relevant regulatory license in the British Virgin Islands, and the company plans to expand to more regions in the future.
