$BTC The $81,000 defense is under pressure again!
ETF investors’ average cost basis is being put to the test.
Bitcoin is once again nearing a key cost-basis zone.
A decisive break below it could bring $75,000 back into view!
Can the bulls hold the institutional cost basis this time?
On-chain analytics firm Glassnode says Bitcoin is once again testing the spot ETF cost-basis zone around $81,000. This price can serve as an important benchmark for assessing the overall profit and loss position of ETF investors. If BTC continues to fall below this zone, more ETF holdings could move into unrealized losses, potentially affecting some investors’ risk appetite. Bitcoin previously retreated from above $84,000 and is now approaching this key level again, putting the market’s short-term ability to absorb selling pressure to the test.
The key question is whether $81,000 can hold at the daily close. If the bulls withstand selling pressure and reclaim $82,000–$83,000, the current pullback could still turn into a rebound after support is confirmed. But if the price closes below $81,000 for several consecutive sessions while ETF outflows resume, the market may seek liquidity at lower levels, bringing the $75,000–$77,000 zone back into focus. However, the ETF cost basis is not guaranteed to act as technical support, and a break below it does not necessarily mean a wave of selling will follow.
$81K has become a key battleground for BTC bulls and bears in the short term.
If ETF buying picks up again and holds the cost-basis zone, this retest could instead give the bulls a chance to accumulate more!
