Definition: Liquidation (commonly called getting liquidated) occurs when unrealized losses on a leveraged position reduce its margin below the maintenance margin requirement, causing the system to automatically close the position.
How to read it: Liquidation data can show which side leveraged funds are more concentrated on, but it reflects events that have already happened and cannot be used on its own to predict market moves.
Leave enough room when trading futures—don't let one sudden move wipe out your position.
