Question: What’s the difference between how Bitcoin and Ethereum record balances?
My answer: A UTXO can only be spent once. If the payment amount is less than the UTXO’s value, the remainder is sent back to the sender’s address as change. The account model is more like a regular bank account: balances are straightforward, and writing smart contracts is more intuitive. The trade-off is that transactions from the same account must be processed in nonce order.
