If you see crypto as more than just a casino, and, like me, have even a little sense of value, then in 2026—my eighth year in the crypto industry—the only direction where I can see real value is #RWA .

If you’re also a Simplified Chinese speaker who was “born on the wrong side of the tracks,” you’ll know how difficult it is these days to open a bank account and get a brokerage account. Even if you manage to, a broker willing to take you on will generally charge a “system usage fee” of at least 25 HKD per trade. So, just as Bitcoin brought financial freedom through asset ownership, it’s obvious that RWA can bring financial freedom—you can buy Nvidia on Binance, and that says it all. Remember, there are people in this world who were born into even worse circumstances than we were.

Financial RWAs such as securities are now accessible and usable, though they’re still a long way from widespread adoption. As far as I know, in the places where financial freedom is needed most, crypto assets are generally still seen as dangerous; people there never consider them real money. So even the wealthy among them are still using their generous pensions to buy property, one unit at a time. But all of this will change. The crypto industry has felt a little slow over the past couple of years, but the groundwork has never stopped being laid.

It’s startling to realize that UNI is only at $7 now. Back in the days of DeFi Summer, getting UNI for $7 was incredibly difficult. RWA is driving demand for a whole range of infrastructure projects like UNI and ONDO. Progress on RWA has also slowed over the past few months, and the tokenization of real-world assets being pursued in the Simplified Chinese community has lost momentum too. We’re hoping RWA will enter the mainstream and regain some momentum; then the assets behind these projects can take off like rockets. So, if I were to pick a few altcoins to hold for a while, I’d go with RWA-related ones.
