DarkSwap (DARK) is a project for private trading on the SOL chain. I’ve been keeping an eye on it lately, and I think its current position is quite interesting.

First, what does it do?

It offers “dark pool trading”: when you swap tokens on SOL, other people can’t see what you traded or how much. Whales are especially wary of having a large order spotted and sandwiched, so there’s always demand for this kind of service. It uses NEAR’s private balances to make this possible. It’s not just a token with empty promises—the product is live and usable.

There’s been ongoing investor interest in the privacy sector this year, with ZEC leading the pack. DARK is one of the few projects on SOL seriously focused on private trading.

I think it has potential for three main reasons.

First, holders get something in return. DARK holders receive regular airdrops of wNEAR, and the team has even created a page that publicly records every distribution. Getting real value just for holding the token is uncommon among meme coins.

Second, the treasury is buying ZEC. The project is using some of its funds to buy a leading token in the privacy sector, tying itself to the broader privacy market. If the sector heats up, DARK could benefit too.

Third, its valuation is low. It previously peaked at a market cap of nearly $10 million, but now it’s just over $1 million—down nearly 90% from its high. The project is still actively working, but its market cap has fallen back close to where it started.

For a token with a product, holder rewards, and exposure to a hot sector, at this price I’d rather take a closer look than chase tokens that have already surged to tens of millions in market cap.

Of course, keep in mind that liquidity in the pool is only around $130,000. It’s a small market, so it can rise quickly, but it can fall just as fast. Over the past hour, sell orders have clearly outnumbered buy orders, and it’s still searching for a bottom.

I’ll keep an eye on it around the $1 million market-cap level and wait for it to make another move alongside the privacy sector.
