Whale closes an $8.21 million BTC long on Hyperliquid
The easiest thing to misrepresent in large trades is direction: closing a short means buying back the existing short, not opening a new long; closing a long means reducing the existing long, not opening a new short. Exiting an old position and establishing a position in the opposite direction must not be conflated.
A contract’s notional value is not margin, either. Without information about leverage, the account’s total positions, and any hedges, even a striking trade size cannot prove which way the trader is betting overall. Turning a trade alert into a copy-trading signal leaves out precisely the information that determines the risk.
