Pirate Chain reports rollback and mandatory upgrade after counterfeit ARRR issuance

An October 22 report said Pirate Chain released mandatory version 6.0.14 and urged nodes, mining pools, and exchanges to stop using older versions and upgrade immediately. On October 14, an attacker reportedly exploited two validation flaws to create around 39.82 million counterfeit ARRR in the transparent coinbase pool, increasing the supply by about 20%.

The project says both vulnerabilities were fixed and the chain was rolled back to the block before attack 4,176,944, following an agreement among the community, pools, exchanges, and dPoW notary nodes. Fake tokens were reportedly removed, balances restored, and the maximum supply remains 200 million ARRR. The new version automatically reindexes the entire chain on first launch. A full technical report is still forthcoming; this recovery statement comes from the project, not an independent audit.
