Bottom line: Over the past 4 hours, TradFi saw about $7.25 million in long liquidations versus roughly $260,000 in short liquidations—longs were hit about 28 times harder than shorts. This sell-off hit the longs.
Zooming out to nearly 24 hours, there were about $30.76 million in long liquidations and $16.39 million in short liquidations, for a total of roughly $47.15 million; stocks accounted for the bulk. The largest single liquidation was an MRNA short on Hyperliquid, at about $3.75 million. For comparison, BTC was around 82,474 on Binance and 82,472 on OKX; ETH was around 2,433.8 on Binance and 2,433.9 on OKX.
A cluster of long liquidations in a short window doesn’t mean shorts are dominant over a longer window; the time frame matters.
Do you think this was a pressure release linked to U.S. stocks, or did leveraged positions simply get caught out?
