What’s the difference between a private key, a public key, and an address?
Bitcoin and Ethereum private keys are both 256-bit random numbers, and both use the secp256k1 elliptic curve.
Most Bitcoin addresses are generated by hashing a public key or script and then encoding it. Common formats start with 1, 3, or bc1.
The most important thing to remember when managing funds: after copying an address, double-check a few characters at the beginning, end, and middle—don’t just check the first and last characters.
