After touching a 24-hour high of around $84,898 on Binance spot, $BTC has now pulled back to around $82,860. The aftereffects of this morning’s wave of short liquidations are still lingering, and the market has once again put the risk levels for leveraged longs in focus.
Data from liquidation platform Coinglass on October 22 shows that if the price falls below around $80,005, cumulative long liquidation intensity across major centralized exchanges would be about $2.511 billion. If it rises above around $88,282, cumulative short liquidation intensity would be about $1.696 billion.
Put simply, a large cluster of long liquidation pressure lies below $80,000, while the short-side fuel of a similar magnitude is not found until around $88,000. These figures are estimated based on the distribution of leverage and do not mean the price will necessarily fall to those levels.
Given the move in Binance spot from nearly $85,000 back to around $83,000, short-term volatility remains high. Liquidation walls are more useful for seeing where risk is concentrated than for betting on market direction.
