The American Bankers Association (ABA) criticized the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s (OCC) final rule under the GENIUS Act, arguing that dropping proposed limits on stablecoin yields would “maintain the status quo for crypto platforms.” The ABA’s CEO said it would be wrong to address the issues only after deposit outflows and economic harm have occurred. According to Foresight News, the OCC issued the final rule on October 21, becoming the first federal banking regulator to finalize rules under the act; the rule takes effect on January 18, 2027.
