šŸ‹ Whales are adding to their positions, retail investors are celebrating—who should you listen to this time?

BTC closed yesterday (October 21) at around $84,676, reaching an intraday high of $84,843 and gaining about 2% on the day. As the market heats up, on-chain data is starting to ā€œargue,ā€ too.

According to Santiment data shared on Twitter:

šŸ”¹ Addresses holding 10 to 10,000 BTC have been accumulating heavily since September 17–18. Over 4.5 weeks, they added a total of about 85,000 BTC, bringing their holdings to a six-month high.
šŸ”¹ Meanwhile, sentiment among small wallets holding less than 0.01 BTC has clearly heated up—they’re starting to get ā€œcarried away.ā€
šŸ”¹ Santiment’s longstanding view: when retail investors are extremely optimistic, it’s often a contrarian signal.

So in the same chart, we have a bullish holder structure on one side and a potentially dangerous sentiment reading on the other.

My take: Whales adding to their positions suggests that some investors are willing to buy around $80,000 over the medium to long term—that’s encouraging. Retail excitement suggests short-term fuel is nearly spent; the more people chase prices higher, the greater the chance of a pullback to shake things out. These two things aren’t contradictory—they’re just playing out over different time frames.

My own approach: I’m holding my core position in line with the big money, and I’ll wait for sentiment to cool before adding more. When people around me start asking, ā€œIs it still too late to buy?ā€, that’s usually when it’s time to stay calm.

Which side are you on right now? Holding with the whales, or locking in some profits while retail investors celebrate? Let’s chat in the comments šŸ‘‡
