BNCB jumped nearly 10% in a day. I’m not chasing it—I’ll wait for it to hold above 5.5 first.
All three major indexes closed higher tonight: the Dow gained 0.69%, the S&P 500 rose 0.58%, and the Nasdaq climbed 1.05% to close at 26,702.
Crypto stocks were even stronger: MSTR rose 7.54%, CRCL gained 4.47%, and COIN climbed 3.65%.
BNC, the underlying stock corresponding to BNCB, closed at $5.70, up 11.76%.
On-chain BNCB is now around 5.62, up about 9.5% in the past 24 hours.
The catalysts are the company’s name change to BNB Standard, its new CEO, and its Nasdaq opening bell ceremony next Monday, October 26.
I think this rally is mainly driven by anticipation of the opening bell ceremony. Liquidity in the main on-chain pool is under $3 million, so the ceremony day could easily turn into a day for investors to take profits.
My approach: watch, don’t chase. It needs to hold above 5.5 for the gains to count as sustained. I’ll take another look at trading volume around the ceremony.
If it falls back below 5.1—the underlying stock’s closing price yesterday—then this rally will have been for nothing.
What do you all think: will the opening bell ceremony be a “sell the news” event, or the start of a new rally?
