SpaceX is offering employees a 20% pay increase to work on-site for six weeks at its data center projects in Memphis, Tennessee, and Southaven, Mississippi. According to Sina Finance, an internal email sought volunteers to help build the Colossus 1 and Colossus 2 facilities, with construction experience considered a plus; participants could also qualify for bonuses tied to project results, while SpaceX would cover travel and logistics costs.

A separate email said the company had offered staff a 20% stipend for surge projects since August and invited specialists to work on the data centers over the following three months. The program was tentatively scheduled to end on December 31, 2026, with a possible extension. SpaceX said in earnings results released Tuesday evening that AI-related revenue, including computing capacity rented to companies such as Anthropic and Google, had topped $7 billion—nearly half of its quarterly revenue.

On an analyst call, CEO Elon Musk said demand from companies seeking to rent computing capacity was extremely strong. He told investors he was spending much of his time in Memphis to help drive SpaceX’s goal of adding 10 gigawatts of computing capacity by the end of 2027, and said he often stayed in the city four days a week. The facilities’ supercomputers were initially built by xAI, which merged into SpaceX in February.
