An AI that doesn’t chat—it only fills in answer sheets: Jev explained

Jev has actually been around for a while, but it’s still worth explaining, so I made a simple explainer video.
Video 2 is the Chinese version.

Jev does just one thing: like filling in bubbles on an exam answer sheet, it marks one of the options generated by a program. How heavily it fills in the bubble indicates how confident it is.

This episode uses an answer sheet to explain:
What’s the point of only being able to answer multiple-choice questions?
How can it be dozens of times faster and so cheap that processing a huge amount of text costs only a few cents?
The company says its “hallucination rate is zero”—where does that zero come from?
Independent research has also found where it gets answers wrong and what it can’t do.

Finally, we’ll talk about what kinds of work it’s suited for, as well as similar products from OpenAI and others.
