I just came across @cryptoblack talking about ZEC’s NU7 this cycle: “What’s confirmed is the block height and the direction—not your position tonight.” I agree with that.

He clearly separates three things: price gains are market action, block height is the calendar, and migration is self-preservation. A lot of posts on the Square are mashing all three together—talking about the upgrade and then about price gains, talking about gains and treating November 5 like a countdown to good news, or talking about the calendar without even mentioning that there are still coins in the Sprout pool that need to be migrated. You can argue over any of those three takes, but his line gets right to the point.

Here’s the other half: the market only ever hears what it wants to hear. NU7 is happening on November 5, but the price has already made a move—currently at 1341, with a 24-hour high of 1368, a low of 1250, and $247 million in trading volume. There are also posts on the Square showing the 1-hour RSI hitting 90; short-term sentiment is already pretty crowded.

One small detail I find interesting: the developers gave a block height of 3,543,405. The date is just a handy estimate based on the current block production rate. The day before the upgrade, 1,160 blocks are produced; the day after, 3,456. The moment activation happens, the calendar and block height become completely disconnected. Next time you work out “how many days are left,” you’ll have to change the denominator.

This is how I see it: yes, what’s confirmed is the block height and the direction—but the market never waits for the calendar. There are two weeks until activation, and if anything gets delayed along the way, that window could slip.
