🔐 Sui hardware wallet Suiball pauses shipping: better late than sorry?
For those who preordered Suiball, the long-awaited update finally arrived over the past couple of days.
According to an official update relayed by the community, Suiball has paused deliveries. After discussions with Mysten Labs and the Sui team, the team is conducting a new independent security audit, which is expected to take several months. The reason: attacks targeting hardware wallets have become more frequent lately. They’d rather ship late than send out a device that hasn’t been thoroughly tested.
🔹 The device was developed by Citadel Wallet and unveiled at SuiFest 2025
🔹 On August 11, the team said confirmation emails for shipping would go out in early September; afterward, the official account went quiet for a long time
🔹 On October 21, its X account was temporarily suspended, prompting widespread speculation in the community
🔹 Plans for the future: a name change, Agent Pass (setting permissions for AI agents), clear-signing for DeFi, BTC support, and post-quantum signatures
🔹 One participant replied that the team had switched to a new processor, so they decided to rerun the audit
My take: When it comes to a hardware wallet, I can live with a three-month delay. One vulnerability could wipe out your entire portfolio. An audit is a plus.
But the community’s frustration isn’t unreasonable either: months without a word, updates relayed through screenshots, and people provided their names and addresses when preordering. For a wallet maker, “communication” is part of security too.
Two quick reminders for preorder customers:
1️⃣ Until your device arrives, keep your assets in the solution you currently trust. Don’t move them somewhere hastily just because you’re “waiting for the new one.”
2️⃣ Watch out for fake “refund” or “reshipping” emails and DMs impersonating Suiball. Your address information is out there, and phishing scams love moments like this.
Which matters most to you in a hardware wallet: shipping speed, audit reports, or team transparency? 👇
