Solana activates Alpenglow today. TPS will drop, and it’s not a bug.

What changes:
TowerBFT is replaced by Votor.
Finality: ~12.8 s to ~150 ms.
Validator votes move off-chain.
SVM, transactions, and fees remain the same.

What you’ll see:
About 75% of Solana transactions are validator votes.
When they’re removed from the record, the displayed TPS and transaction count will drop.
Actual user activity won’t change. It’s a change in accounting, not a slowdown.

What isn’t guaranteed:
150 ms is a design target, not a demonstration under maximum load.
Rotor (block propagation) is not part of this activation.
Byzantine fault tolerance goes from 1/3 to 1/5 of the stake.

What to monitor afterward:
Validator participation.
Latency of finalized blocks.
Missed slots.

Which metric will you track first?

This does not constitute financial advice.
