Seven weeks. That's how long it took bStocks to go from launch to over $500 million in assets under management, according to Binance's own figures. The lineup also grew from five tickers to more than 46.
The number that stuck with me isn't the AUM though. It's that 58% of equity-linked volume on Binance outside US market hours runs through bStocks, and that 41.5% of users say this was their first step into traditional finance. That tells me the appeal may be less about stocks themselves and more about being able to trade them at 3 a.m. on a Sunday, inside an app people already use. Gen Z making up 44% of activity fits that picture.
Still, these are certificates tied 1:1 to shares held by a regulated custodian, not direct share ownership, and they're unavailable in the US. Most of the data is also self-reported by Binance. I'm curious whether this demand holds once the novelty fades, or if round the clock access is the real hook.
