#ZcashDevelopersConfirmNovemberDateForNU7Upgrade
Everyone loves a date. Zcash has one now: November 5 for the planned NU7 mainnet upgrade, and I’d guess most of the chatter will be about price. What stands out to me is how little attention goes to what the upgrade actually changes.
Block time is set to drop from 75 seconds to 25, which should make confirmations arrive much faster. NU7 will also disable version 4 transactions, leaving funds still held in the old Sprout pool unspendable unless they’re moved before activation. Then there’s the Network Sustainability Mechanism, which removes 60% of transaction fees from circulation and is designed to bring those funds back through future block rewards starting around February 2031. The existing halving schedule stays in place.
I’m curious how much of this the market will actually pay attention to. November 5 is the target, but the upgrade still depends on final implementation and network readiness. Faster blocks sound useful on paper; what matters is how they perform in practice. Will users notice a real difference, or will NU7 mainly be another headline for traders to react to?$ZEC
