$SMCI closed at 35.56, up 10.13%. It climbed from 32.07 to 38.07 intraday, then gave back half its gains. Everyone is reading the raised guidance as “AI server demand is exploding.” I see it a little differently: this time, it’s the guidance—not gross margin—that went up. Guidance can be raised more easily because deliveries are being pulled forward—the orders were already there; they’re just being recognized earlier. The real signal is that it couldn’t hold 38.07, and trading volume of 39.0M isn’t enough to sustain a trend. The retreat from the highs is more worth watching than the gain itself. $SMCI ’s valuation has always hinged on the order-growth narrative, but earlier delivery recognition doesn’t mean margins are improving. Gross margin in the next earnings report will be the dividing line. If you’re thinking of chasing it, 35.56 doesn’t look like a particularly attractive entry to me; I’d rather wait for a pullback toward 32 and then assess the volume.
