Switzerland’s financial regulator has approved making spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) available to retail investors.
$BTC
Spot bitcoin ETFs are expanding into new markets. Retail investors in Switzerland will have access to the first spot exchange-traded funds tracking the largest cryptocurrency, following approval by the Swiss regulator, FINMA (Financial Market Supervisory Authority).
$ETH
The regulator’s approval will allow the ETF to invest directly in bitcoin in accordance with Swiss investment fund regulations. Under FINMA’s criteria, this ETF will fall into the category of “other funds for alternative investments,” classified as such because they entail specific risks under Swiss law.
