Three concrete narratives:
Privacy coins have a hard catalyst: Zcash has confirmed the activation height for its NU7 upgrade (block time will drop to 25 seconds), with mainnet targeted for November 5; ZEC is up 11% over 24 hours, and XMR is up 4.9%. Top traders in the derivatives market flipped from 94% short to 80% long within 24 hours—a combination of “news + short squeeze.”
DeFi is a relief rally, not new demand: $CVX and $COMP have small market caps and thin liquidity. Their gains are mainly driven by short covering and buying the dip, while on-chain TVL has not risen in tandem.
L2 and abandoned old narratives: Layer 2 is up just 1.15% and CeFi 1.93%, both underperforming BTC. Capital is picking assets with “clear catalysts” rather than spreading across sectors—which is also why the altcoin season index is only 58.
View: The durability of an event-driven rally depends on whether the event materializes (NU7 goes live on 11/5). Before then, it’s a trading opportunity; afterward, it could easily turn into a “sell the news” event.

Institutional views
CoinDCX: October target of 83,500, with a range of 83,500–87,300; ETH’s October midpoint is around 2,500, with a range of 2,300–2,600/2,650
DailyForex: Around 84,000 is the trigger for a bullish flag pattern; a breakout would put the target at 97,500
Hashdex: This bear market has lasted 359 days so far (the previous three lasted 361/377/411 days). Short-term holders account for just 16% of supply, the lowest since January 2023, but BTC must reclaim 84,000 ahead of the FOMC
Wintermute: The consolidation around 82,500 will soon break; the 10/28 FOMC meeting is the most likely catalyst. A dovish outcome plus better-than-expected earnings could open the way to 87,000
Bernstein: Says the bottom is in and reiterates its year-end 2026 target of $150,000$BTC
