A few signals before meme coins pick up momentum

For sentiment to recover, prices need to move. Otherwise, it’s just talk.

With meme coins, first check whether the leaders have volume, then see whether smaller coins dare to follow.

PEPE 0.00000458 (+9.57%), BONK 0.00000311 (+6.87%), WIF 0.2084 (+4.62%), SHIB 0.00000518 (+4.43%)

For comparison: BTC 83439 (24h +2.39%).

PEPE’s 24h gain of +9.57% is clearly stronger than BTC’s +2.39%, suggesting independent buying. But DOGE is up only +3.70%—there’s no sector-wide confirmation, so stick to the leaders and don’t fantasize about catch-up gains.

BTC is still at 83439 (+2.39%). Until BTC breaks above 84,107, I consider meme coins’ right-side action noise.

If the gap between the leader and the weakest coin narrows to within 2 percentage points, independent buying has disappeared; close the position.

Data: Binance Spot 24h / Binance USDⓈ-M / Yahoo daily (5-day change) / altme_fng / mempool_fees / defillama_chains / coingecko_trending. Missing figures are not filled in.
When meme coins aren’t outperforming BTC, are you still holding them?

Takeaway: A low VIX means volatility is suppressed, not that risk has disappeared.
Insight: ETH weaker than BTC means capital is contracting; pause right-side altcoin trades for now.
