On-chain analytics firm Glassnode said on October 20 that its Q4 resistance band for Bitcoin, $87,000 to $87,800, has held so far. Bitcoin topped $87,000 intraday on October 2, failed to hold there, and has ranged lower since. It traded near $82,700 on October 21, about 5% below the band.

Q4 resistance band holding

Glassnode set the levels in its Q4 2026 Charting Crypto report, co-authored with Colin Basco and an institutional team at another CEX. The report read the data as pointing to near-term consolidation. Since Bitcoin stalled at the band, it has traded roughly between $80,000 and $84,000.

Volatility expected on a break, with $90,000 next

Glassnode’s house view is that a break out of the current range is likely to spark significant volatility. It also flags another overhead supply cluster near $90,000, a zone where holders who bought at those prices could sell as price returns to their cost basis. Glassnode did not call a direction for the break.

From $82,700, Bitcoin would need to rise 5.2% to reach the bottom of the band, 6.2% to clear its top, and 8.8% to reach the $90,000 cluster.

QCP’s levels line up

QCP’s earlier house view lines up with Glassnode’s. On October 2, QCP put resistance at $87,400, calling it the gateway to $90,000, with support at $82,500. Bitcoin’s current price is close to that support level.
