Binance will adjust the collateral ratios for a group of assets starting at 14:00 Beijing Time on October 23. The changes are expected to take about 30 minutes to complete. They affect cross-margin borrowing and transfers, Portfolio Margin, and the tiered collateral ratios for Portfolio Margin Pro (PM Pro). The impact on an account cannot be determined by looking at a single percentage, as the same asset may have different ratios under different modes.

According to a Binance announcement, under Cross Margin and standard Portfolio Margin, the collateral ratios for $POL, $SHIB, and XLM will rise from 50% to 60%, while those for $COW, NEXO, RVN, and SAND will rise from 10% to 30%. The collateral ratio is a parameter the platform uses to calculate the value of collateral assets. It is not the market price of these assets, nor does it mean that an account's available borrowing limit will change by the same proportion.

Changes under PM Pro need to be considered by asset size. The announcement lists COW, NEXO, RVN, and SAND. After the adjustment, the collateral ratio is 100% for the first $100,000, 80% for the $100,000–$250,000 tier, 50% for the $250,000–$500,000 tier, and 10% for amounts above $500,000. Previously, the corresponding thresholds were $50,000, $100,000, $200,000, and $400,000. Therefore, citing only “10% to 30%” is not enough to summarize the PM Pro rules.

The impact also differs by mechanism: the announcement specifies that the cross-margin portion affects only the amount that can be borrowed or transferred; in portfolio margin mode, collateral ratios and leverage affect the unified maintenance margin ratio (uniMMR). The announcement does not provide the magnitude of changes for any specific account. For accounts using the relevant assets as collateral, it is more useful to check the applicable mode, tier thresholds, and adjusted uniMMR than to interpret a parameter increase as meaning that risk has disappeared.
