Latest: According to CoinPost, Japan’s Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Tatsunori Ibayashi, said in a statement of his views before the House of Representatives Committee on Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism that the government would study introducing stablecoins into the consumption tax exemption system for foreign visitors to Japan. He also mentioned a “refund method” under which taxes would be refunded after departure is confirmed, saying that measures would be advanced from the user’s perspective.
