Late on October 17 (UTC+8), an address belonging to Justin Sun received 7.2 trillion $PEPE tokens from Poloniex’s multisig wallet, worth about $28.44 million at the time. On the evening of October 18, on-chain analyst Ai Yi uncovered the transfer: it was the first time Sun had moved PEPE on-chain since June 2024. The last time he moved it, PEPE was trading at around $0.00001256. Now it’s worth just over a third of that.

The news quickly set the community abuzz. Some said Sun was buying the dip; others speculated that he might have heard something. But all the on-chain data shows is that the tokens moved from Poloniex to his address. There has been no public explanation of whether he just bought them or simply withdrew an existing position from the exchange to his own wallet.

Now, let’s look at the market. Binance’s PEPE/USDT pair hit a low of $0.00000377 on October 18, then rose nearly 10% on October 20. As of 15:00 on October 21 (UTC+8), it was trading at around $0.00000451, up about 7.9% over 24 hours. Trading volume on October 20 was about $62 million—more than three times the daily average over the previous three days. As one of the best-known meme coins on-chain, $ETH PEPE has long moved with whale activity and market sentiment.

Whether this address continues to hold, sends the tokens back to an exchange, or sells them in batches will all be visible on-chain—and that’s the key development to watch for PEPE next.
