On October 20 (U.S. local time), Nasdaq-listed BNB Standard (ticker: BNC) announced that it would ring the opening bell at the Nasdaq building in Times Square at 9:30 p.m. on October 26, Beijing time. CZ later reposted the announcement, adding just two bell emojis.
The company, formerly known as CEA Industries, is the world’s largest publicly listed company by holdings of $BNB . As of July 31, it held 515,000 BNB on its books, worth nearly $380 million at current prices.
The story behind the new name is pretty interesting. Before changing its name in late September, the company held a poll on X, asking the community to choose from four options. The poll received 5,799 votes over five days, with “BNB Standard” winning with about 47%. On October 19, former YZi Labs investment partner Alex Odagiu was appointed CEO. The bell-ringing ceremony celebrates both the new name and the new CEO.
Odagiu said that most institutional investors have yet to seriously study BNB, and the company’s job is to give them a reason to.
In the market, as of 1:58 p.m. Beijing time on October 21, BNB was trading at around $743 on Binance spot, up about 1.9% over 24 hours. $BTC was up about 1.1% over the same period.
The bell-ringing is exciting, but it doesn’t change the fundamentals. What’s more worth watching next is whether BNC’s share price can hold above the value of the BNB it owns.
