$527 million flowed in over one day, but the full month’s balance may still be in the red.

The trending figure this time corresponds to October 19, U.S. time. According to Farside’s data, U.S. spot $BTC ETFs saw a combined net inflow of $526.7 million that day. But adding up the net flows for each trading day from October 1 through 19 in the same table still gives a net outflow of about $88 million.

That total covers the window described above. It is not complete data for October 20, nor is it the flow figure just released this morning. Looking only at the biggest positive number can make it easy to overlook the shortfall accumulated over the preceding days.

When Lao Yao tracks changes in fund flows, he first fixes the measurement window, then looks at the cumulative net figure. A one-day improvement is worth noting, but whether it continues depends on the data to come. We shouldn’t turn “one day of inflows” into “a sustained return of capital” prematurely.

When you judge whether fund flows are recovering, do you focus on the brightest single day, or add up the figures for the entire period?
